IP Cameras
How it works
- Camera or recorder (NVR/DVR) has a web interface accessible on local network
- You forward a port on your router
- No-IP.pl maps a permanent name to your changing IP address
- From anywhere, open
https://surveillance.no-ip.pland see the feed
Step by step configuration
1. Find local address of camera/recorder
Typical addresses:
192.168.1.xor192.168.0.x- Port:
80,8080or554(RTSP)
- Camera's IP address
- HTTP port
- Login credentials
2. Create account and host at No-IP.pl
- Register
- Create a host, e.g.
surveillance.no-ip.pl
3. Configure DDNS
Option A: On router (recommended)
In router settings → DDNS:
Server: update.no-ip.pl
Host: surveillance.no-ip.pl
Username: your_login
Password: your_password
Option B: On recorder/camera
Many cameras (Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink) have built-in DDNS support:
Settings → Network → DDNS
Type: DynDNS / Custom
Server: update.no-ip.pl
Domain: surveillance.no-ip.pl
4. Forward ports on router
| Service | Internal Port | External Port | Protocol | |---------|---------------|---------------|----------| | Camera WWW | 80 | 8080* | TCP | | RTSP (stream) | 554 | 554 | TCP/UDP | | Mobile app | 8000 | 8000 | TCP |
*Use a different external port than 80 - many ISPs block port 80 for residential customers.
5. Test access
From your phone (turn off WiFi, use mobile data):
http://surveillance.no-ip.pl:8080
You should see the camera login interface.

Security - this is important!
Exposing cameras to the internet requires special care:
Mandatory steps:
- Change default password - Never leave
admin/admin - Use HTTPS - If camera supports it, enable SSL
- Update firmware - Regularly check for updates
- Restrict access - If possible, enable IP filtering
- Use non-standard ports - Instead of
80use e.g.18080
Safer option: VPN
Instead of exposing the camera directly:
- Run a VPN server on your home network
- Assign it address
vpn.no-ip.pl - Connect via VPN, then browse cameras locally
Popular scenarios
Home surveillance
Hardware: NVR + 4 PoE cameras
Host: home.no-ip.pl:8080
App: Hikvision iVMS / Dahua gDMSS
Business/shop surveillance
Hardware: 16-channel recorder
Host: shop.no-ip.pl:8080
Access: WWW + mobile app
Camera at remote site/construction
Hardware: LTE camera (with SIM card)
Host: construction.no-ip.pl
Note: Check if LTE operator assigns public IP

Mobile applications
Most manufacturers offer apps with Dynamic DNS support:
| Manufacturer | App | DDNS Support | |--------------|-----|--------------| | Hikvision | iVMS-4500 | Yes | | Dahua | gDMSS / iDMSS | Yes | | Reolink | Reolink | Yes | | TP-Link (VIGI) | VIGI | Yes | | Ubiquiti | UniFi Protect | Yes (via UniFi) |
In the app, instead of IP address enter: surveillance.no-ip.pl

Troubleshooting
Cannot connect from outside
- Check if port is open: Use canyouseeme.org
- Double NAT: Do you have ISP router + your router? Set up DMZ or bridge mode
- CGNAT: Some operators (mainly mobile) use CGNAT - port forwarding won't work then
Feed is delayed/stuttering
- Reduce stream resolution for remote access
- Use sub-stream instead of main-stream
- Check upload speed (minimum 2 Mbps per camera)
ISP blocks port 80
Use a different port (e.g. 8080, 8443) and add it to address: surveillance.no-ip.pl:8080
---
Summary
Remote camera access via No-IP.pl:
- No monthly fees for cloud
- Full privacy - recordings stay with you
- Independence from camera manufacturer
- Works with any hardware supporting DynDNS
